True Christian community is more than just gathering on Sundays. It’s the foundation that holds us together in faith, hope, and love.
In this sermon from our Core Four series, Pastor Jim unpacks the second rhythm of life in Christ: The Foundation. Rooted in John Wesley’s practice of class meetings, this rhythm reminds us that Christian fellowship is not just about learning information but about experiencing transformation together. Hebrews 10:19–25 calls us to draw near to God, hold fast to our hope, and stir one another up toward love and good works.
Pastor Jim explains that our faith rests on the sure foundation of Christ—our eternal High Priest and perfect sacrifice. Because of Him, we have direct access to God and the assurance of salvation. But this journey isn’t meant to be lived alone. Just as Wesley’s class meetings held believers accountable and encouraged spiritual growth, today’s small groups, Bible studies, and ministry teams are places where we remind one another of our hope, bear each other’s burdens, and shine as the body of Christ.
When we neglect gathering, we risk isolation and discouragement. But when we come together in Christ’s name, the Spirit strengthens us, transforms us, and equips us to be light in a dark world.
