When Thomas encountered the risen Jesus, everything changed. Discover why belief—not doubt—is the heart of this story and what it means for your faith today.
In this week’s message from John 20:24–31, we explore the well-known encounter between Jesus and Thomas—not to spotlight his doubt, but to highlight the incredible transformation that comes from encountering the resurrected Christ. While Thomas has often been called “Doubting Thomas,” this sermon reframes him as “Believing Thomas,” showing that his moment of declaration—"My Lord and my God"—is one of the strongest professions of faith in the New Testament.
As part of our Easter + 40 series, we continue tracing the 40-day journey between the resurrection and ascension. This pivotal period saw the disciples transformed into apostles—bold witnesses of the resurrection. Jesus was intentional in these days, grounding them not just in teaching, but in tangible evidence of His victory over death.
We are reminded that Christianity is not just a moral philosophy based on Jesus’ teachings—it is a gospel founded on a resurrected Savior. And though we didn’t live in that 40-day window, we are still called to believe like apostles: with full conviction, transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit.
