When the apostles walked out of jail, they didn’t run—they preached. This message shows how trusting Jesus (not trying harder) frees us from sin, the law, and death—and sends us to witness with joy.
Acts 5 reveals the shift from merely following Jesus to fully trusting Him. Freed from jail, the apostles return to the temple to teach—the kind of obedience the world calls “foolish,” yet God calls faithful. Gamaliel’s wise counsel reminds us that if a work is from God, it cannot be stopped.
Another thread is freedom: in Christ there is ‘no condemnation’ (Rom. 8:1–4). Like Abraham, we’re counted righteous by faith (Gen. 15:6; Gal. 3). The Law is a guide—not a savior—showing God’s holiness and our need, and leading us to Jesus. In Him we’re freed from sin’s grip, the Law’s weight as a ladder to God, and even the fear of death.
