It's Not Me!

July 20, 2025

What if your greatest spiritual breakthrough came when you stopped trying to fix everything yourself?

In this second sermon from Peter, following the miraculous healing of a man born lame, we’re reminded that real transformation doesn’t come from human effort—but through faith in the resurrected Christ. In Acts 3:11–26, Peter boldly deflects the crowd’s praise, declaring, “Why do you stare at us as if by our own power... we made this man walk?” This message unpacks that claim, exploring how Peter’s growth—from self-focused disciple to Spirit-empowered apostle—mirrors the transformation God desires in all of us.

Peter roots the gospel not in novelty, but in continuity—tying Jesus to Abraham, Moses, David, Isaiah, and Ezekiel to show that God’s redemptive plan has always been about faith. From Genesis to Galatians, it’s clear: we can’t fix ourselves. But God can. And He has—through the cross, the resurrection, and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. This sermon invites us to lay down our “fix-it” mindset and instead live surrendered, Spirit-filled lives that point others to Jesus, not ourselves.
