What truly transforms a believer? As we close six months in Acts, this message calls us to move from a concept of God to the reality of the risen Christ—and to live in the power of His resurrection.
This sermon wraps up our six-month journey through the book of Acts by returning to the core truth that transformed the disciples into apostles: the reality of the resurrected Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit. Drawing from Philippians, we reflect on Paul’s spiritual résumé—his lineage, zeal, and religious achievement—and why he counted it all as “garbage” compared to knowing Christ. Our faith isn’t built on an idea, philosophy, or concept of God; it’s built on the living reality of a risen Savior.
We are reminded that Jesus did not die and rise again so we could merely practice religion. He came to restore us to a relationship with God—a relationship empowered, sustained, and made alive by resurrection power. As we enter a new liturgical year and move toward Advent, this message calls us to shift our focus: away from spiritual complacency and toward a vibrant, life-shaping relationship with Christ. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is the power that justifies, sanctifies, and renews us, both individually and as the Church.
