The Road to Emmaus

Why didn’t Jesus immediately ascend and send the Holy Spirit? Because first, He had to establish, beyond all doubt, that He is risen. That truth is the foundation upon which the church—and our faith—is built. The disciples' hearts burned within them as Jesus spoke, and their lives were never the same.
